Education, Training & Workshops

PMDD, Neurodivergence & Hormonal Health Education for Schools, Colleges and Organisations

The relationship between hormones, autism, ADHD and mental health is still widely misunderstood.

For many neurodivergent girls and young women, puberty can be the point at which life suddenly becomes significantly more difficult. Emotional regulation, sensory sensitivities, anxiety, executive functioning, school attendance, relationships and mental health can all be affected — yet the hormonal component is frequently overlooked.

I deliver engaging, accessible and neurodivergence-informed educational workshops, talks and training sessions for schools, colleges, universities and other institutions, helping staff and young people understand the connection between the menstrual cycle, PMDD, autism and ADHD.

What Can the Workshops Cover?

Sessions can be adapted according to the age of the students and the needs of your organisation, with topics including:

  • Understanding PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)
  • The menstrual cycle and its impact on mood, behaviour and cognition
  • Why puberty can be particularly challenging for autistic and ADHD girls
  • Autism, ADHD and hormonal sensitivity
  • Recognising cyclical changes in mental health
  • Sensory overload and emotional dysregulation
  • Executive functioning and changes across the menstrual cycle
  • Anxiety, low mood, irritability and overwhelm
  • School avoidance and difficulties with attendance
  • Rejection sensitivity and interpersonal difficulties
  • Masking, burnout and the experience of undiagnosed neurodivergent girls
  • Supporting students experiencing severe premenstrual symptoms
  • Practical adjustments schools and colleges can make
  • Helping young people track patterns and understand their own bodies
  • Reducing stigma around periods, hormones and mental health
  • Knowing when a young person may need additional professional or medical support

For Students

Age-appropriate student workshops provide young people with information that many women say they wish they had been given during puberty.

Rather than believing there is something inherently wrong with them, young people can begin to understand how their brain, nervous system, hormones and menstrual cycle may interact.

Education can give young people the language to describe what they are experiencing and the confidence to ask for help.

For Teachers, SENCOs & Support Staff

I also provide professional education for teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, counsellors and other professionals working with young people.

A student whose behaviour or ability to cope changes dramatically at certain points of the month may not simply be “challenging”, inconsistent or unwilling to engage.

Understanding cyclical patterns can help professionals recognise when something else may be happening and consider appropriate support, reasonable adjustments and referral pathways.

Informed by Professional Knowledge & Lived Experience

My workshops combine education with lived experience, bringing a human perspective to subjects that can otherwise feel very clinical.

As the founder of the PMDD & Neurodivergence Alliance CIC, my aim is to improve understanding of hormonal health and neurodivergence from puberty onwards and help prevent another generation of girls and women spending years struggling without understanding why.
